What it really means: A tightening of the heart; for a person, a smell, a street. Not only for home.

Some things can only be said in Persian. A Persian-speaking therapist hears exactly those.

Why a Persian-speaking therapist

You live somewhere else now, and some things never quite settle

Your second language works, until you need to talk about something whose roots are somewhere else. Then the sentences get shorter and something falls out of the middle. Therapy should be the one place where nothing needs translating.

In your mother tongue, with its tone, pauses and jokes

You never have to explain ta’arof or rudarbāyesti. A Persian-speaking therapist knows them, and hears what is not being said as well.

Familiar with life far from home

Some of our therapists live outside Iran themselves; others have focused their work on migration and diaspora life. Before your first session we tell you which of them is closest to your situation.

In your time zone, not Tehran’s

Sessions are scheduled in your local time. If your therapist is in Iran, we translate their working hours into yours; if they live in your country, there is nothing to translate.

Therapists who have made the same journey

These Tajrobeh therapists live and work in Germany, the UK, the US and Australia. If their hours or approach do not suit you, we introduce someone from our 150+ vetted therapists whose working hours match yours.

We have written a page for each country (in Persian): time difference, resident and in-person options, payment and insurance, and the questions people in that country ask.

Frequently asked

What people abroad ask before they start

Is the session in Persian or English?

Sessions are in Persian (Farsi). All Tajrobeh therapists are native Persian speakers. If you or a partner would like part of the conversation in English or German, tell us in the form and we will match you with a therapist who is fluent in that language too.

Can I use Tajrobeh from outside Iran?

Yes. Sessions are online and you can join from anywhere. Our therapists are based in Iran, Germany, the UK, the US and Australia, and we schedule every session in your own time zone.

How much does a session cost?

€25 to €35 per session, paid per session in euros. Students pay €25. The price is fixed regardless of your country or exchange rate, and the first introductory session with your therapist is free.

How do I pay? I do not have an Iranian bank account.

You do not need one. Payment is by Stripe or PayPal with your local card. You receive a receipt for every session by email; if your insurer or employer reimburses psychotherapy, we can provide the documents.

What is the free introductory session?

A short first session with the therapist themselves, not with our reception team. You describe what is going on and together you see whether it is a good fit. It is free and there is no obligation; if it is not a match, we introduce another therapist.

How do time zones work?

Sessions are scheduled in your local time, never in Tehran time. Therapists based in Europe, North America and Australia work in your hours, and for Iran-based therapists we translate their working window into your time zone.

How are Tajrobeh therapists selected?

Every therapist goes through a clinical interview and a simulated session before joining, has been in personal therapy themselves, and works under ongoing clinical supervision. Behind the platform is a real clinic in Tehran founded in 2019, a training school for therapists and a reception team that answers every day.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What is said in the session stays between you and your therapist. Sessions are not recorded and your name never appears in any report. The number you leave is used only for our first message to you.

Do you offer couples or family therapy?

Yes. Couples therapy, therapy for teenagers and children, and mixed sessions (for example one partner in Iran and one abroad) are all available. Tell us who the therapy is for in the form.

You do not need to know what the problem is yet

That is exactly what the introductory session is for: a short conversation with a therapist who understands your language, free and with no obligation. If it fits, you continue; if not, you have lost nothing.
